Walking into a mental health appointment for the first time can feel nerve-wracking. That’s completely normal. Knowing what to expect can help take some of the uncertainty away.

When you call to schedule, our staff will ask a few basic questions to get started. It helps to bring a photo ID, your insurance or Medicaid card, and a list of any current medications. If you’re unsure about insurance or cost, don’t let that stop you, we’ll work with you to figure it out.

Your first visit is typically a conversation with a licensed mental health professional. You’ll talk about what brought you in, your history, and your goals. It’s not a test. You can share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with, and you’re welcome to bring a trusted person along.

From there, your care team will work with you to build a treatment plan around your needs.
