In an effort to promote client success and project a positive image regarding abilities and accomplishments of people who have developmental disabilities and mental illness, the promotion & education committee of Newaygo County Mental Health (NCMH) is issuing a call for client art. The top three winning entries will be purchased for $150 each and displayed in public areas within Newaygo County.
To participate, the artist must be a current or former recipient of mental health services by NCMH and comply with all entry and participation rules as stipulated below.
- Up to two (2) pieces of art may be submitted by each artist.
- Original work may be completed in oils, watercolors, pastels, charcoal, pen, ink, fabric or another organic medium. Sculpture to be no more than table-top size, and under 20 lbs. in weight. The artwork can be no larger than 36 inches wide or tall: no smaller than 11 inches wide or tall.
- The artwork must be appropriate for family audiences and consistent with community standards of good taste. The NCMH Promotion & Education committee reserves the right to refuse any work of art it deems inappropriate. The committee will be the ultimate arbiter of any issues of dispute beyond the rules and qualifications addressed here.
- The artist agrees to deliver his/her artwork to NCMH located at 1049 Newell, White Cloud, Michigan, no later than 07/31/2026.
Any artist who currently receives services or formerly received services from NCMH will agree to sign a release for information that is disclosed as a result of their artwork that may be displayed in public areas. For example, this would be necessary if you have a visible signature on your artwork.
- Judging will take place by 08/12/2026. All entries will receive a certificate of participation.
- All art not purchased can be picked up by 09/01/2026.
- Any other issues not addressed by the above qualifications and rules will be addressed and resolved by the Promotion & Education Committee.
