Wraparound Process

What is the Wraparound process?

The Wraparound process, provided by professionals at Newaygo County Mental Health, is based on individualized, needs driven planning and services.  It is not a program or a type of service.  It is a value based and unconditional commitment to create services on a "one kid at a time" basis to support normalized and inclusive options for youth and their families with complex needs.

Once a referral is made to Wraparound, the Wraparound coordinator will present the family issues to the Community Team. If the Community Team agrees the family should be part of the process, the Wraparound coordinator/facilitator will meet with the family to explain the process.

Wraparound service then begins by the family developing a child and family team. Wraparound is community based and unconditional, is culturally competent, and includes the delivery of coordinated, highly individualized services in three or more life domain areas of a child and family.

What are the nine life domain areas explored?

  1. Residential
  2. Family or surrogate family
  3. Social
  4. Educational
  5. Health
  6. Behavioral
  7. Legal
  8. Safety
  9. Spiritual
